CCAD: a champion in combating domestic violence

Among the many agencies and departments available to Connecticut residents to assist those who are subjected to harm from physical attack, one stands out for its diligence and dedication to protecting the most vulnerable victims — the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence (CCADV).

This organization, has for the past four years, been led by their capable chief executive officer, Karen Jarmoc. Susan Regan, host of CT Valley Views interviewed Karen in its Wethersfield office to discuss the recently completed findings and recommendations on improving outcomes for children exposed to family violence resulting in amendments to current laws through legislation. This report can be seen in its entirety on the CCADV website: www.ctcadv.org and they can be reached on their state hotline 1-888-774-2900.

Key to their success in handling the critical majority child protective services, where 75 percent of families involved have domestic violence in the home, is their ability to act independently as a non-profit organization. CCADV is a true asset to the people of Connecticut and this show segment would be important to view for any family members, relatives or neighbors who are victims of domestic violence and who could benefit from this discussion.
