Intra-board Advisory Committee sets course of action

By Shirley Murtha

At the July 8 meeting of the Intra-board Advisory Committee, First Selectman Scott Kuhnly enumerated the five areas of study discussed at the initial meeting: infrastructure strategy analysis, maintenance/custodial operations, finance strategy, solar farm collaboration and human resources operations. Noting that the solar farm collaboration has many aspects that each need a great deal of study. The board is leaning toward suggesting that a separate committee comprised of town and school representatives should be initiated to carry out this research.

It was decided that the board’s first area of study would be the infrastructure analysis. Kuhnly will prepare a draft-data document requesting input and comments from the members regarding short vs. long term strategy, personnel strategy, the current state of IT (including hardware and grants), outsourcing hypotheses, and telephone systems. When finalized, the document will be distributed to the Town Manager and the Superintendent of Schools.
